May 4, 2019
“The British Are Coming Again” is the southern chapter of BCCD’s annual car show, organized in conjunction with it’s sponsor; The Lewes Chamber of Commerce.
The Cape May Lewes Ferry terminal grounds hosts the show the first Saturday of May each year. The terminal, located on the Delaware Bay, is an ideal location. The terminal grounds offer British cars owners and admirers a wonderful view of the bay as well as access to the Ferry terminal and its amenities.
The 2019 Show will be held May 4th, with public hours being from 11:00 am till 3:00 pm. This year, the first 100 entrants will receive a free BBCD t-shirt commemorating the show ad our featured marque: the Nash Metropolitan. Cars are presented on the field in 8 classes based on the car’s model year and include a different featured marque each year as well as a Premier class for the first-place winner and Best of Show from the previous year’s show. First, second and third place trophies are awarded in all classes except the Premier and the car receiving the most votes is awarded “Best of Show.”
Winners are announced on the field at the conclusion of the show and then parade through Lewes where the trophies are presented to winners as they drive down the main street of town.
Participants and attendees, in addition to voting for their favorite car in each class, can: purchase tickets for one of the many themed baskets raffled off, purchase chances for a 50/50 raffle and buy club regalia or British baked goods.
The ferry terminal has a food booth set up on the grounds or you can head to their restaurant/bar for lunch. There is a free (for show attendees and participants) shuttle from the Terminal to the center of Lewes where local shops hold a sidewalk sale and more restaurants are available.
Registration forms are available for download (2019 BCCD Lewes Show Registration Form). The cost per car is $20 in advance and $30 after the Friday before the show or the day of the show. Registration includes admission for the driver and a passenger, one commemorative t-shirt, one raffle ticket for the participant raffle (car products or car related items) a goody bag and a show plaque to the first 100 preregistered cars. Entries must be original British made vehicles, model year 2000 or earlier. Replicas, kits or reproductions are not accepted.
