On Saturday, February 8th, BCCD Members gathered for Demo Day at the Simeone Heritage Museum in Philadelphia area, followed by a late lunch at Lehman’s Pub. Terry Young and his neighbor Jeff, Alan & Fiona Hill, Bob & Carol Wall, Richard Speck, Tony Phillips and his son Nick, Russell Tuckerman, Denise Fry, Dean Goodwin, Jack Long, Chuck Ott, and Glen Gimble.

The Museum gave a presentation, titled “The Tourist Trophy”, featuring vintage British racers. Also, a large contingent of Lotus’, from old to modern, were displayed to celebrate the Lotus Marque. The President of the Philadelphia Lotus Car Club also gave a presentation on the history of Lotus. He also had several of his own cars displayed.

There also was a surprise unveiling of a 1964 Lotus 30, new to the Museum. The car was uncovered and fired up inside the museum, quite a roar!

Four unique British cars in the Simeone collection were featured on-stage, including a 1928 Riley Nine, a 1934 MG K3 Magnette,1952 Jaguar C-Type, and a 1958 Aston Martin DBR1. Two of the four cars, the Riley and the Aston Martin, successfully started and ran for the demonstration event on an asphalt course behind the museum. The sounds from the old British machinery were music to our ears!
